Sant Antoni Tourism Guide

Tour Guide of Sant Antoni or San Antonio

Sant Antoni de Portmany, also known as San Antonio, was a fishing village with a large port. Discover his story.

Sant Antoni De portmany is the closest Point of Ibiza to the peninsula. Thanks to its large bay and the facilities it presented as a seaport, fishing was one of its main resources. Although with the arrival of tourism, fishing activity went to the background, the spirit always present is preserved. So we can discover a large number of coves where the fishermen’s varaderos occupy a large part of their coastline. The tourist Evolution turned the center of the town into English territory, being known as the West of Sant Antoni. The term Probably comes from the American West itself, because sometimes it happens to be a lawless city. In the four streets adjoining the port, and on the Paseo de Ses Fonts, there are many pubs and bars of almost English-speaking drinks. Once we leave the old town, Sant Antoni becomes a quiet and familiar place. In A First division, the municipality of Sant Antoni was composed with the Bands Of Cas Ramones, Buscastell, sa Vorera, Forat, es Pla, es bessons, es Macias And es bernats. The bands were an ancient measure of length. Today the distribution has been changed by the typical parishes between the town of Sant Antoni, Sant Mateo, Santa Agnès and Sant Rafel. The best known part Sant Antoni are spectacular sunsets that many enjoy great popularity bars. Sunset brings together hundreds of people to the edge of the beach in some really special moments.

Culture in Sant Antoni

If you intend to do some cultural tourism, Sant Antoni will offer you some unique places. One of the most outstanding we find in his church, an old fortress of thick walls. The necessary mills for the self-supply of the population are in every span of Ibiza. Some, the most important, have been restored as a very interesting visit. No less interesting are the remains of the Torres D’en LLuc, of supposed military strategic interest. These towers were built in places with a good visibility and, what is better, with breathtaking views.

Caves in Sant Antoni

Natural constructions such as the underground chapel Of Santa Agnés, the cave Of The Aquarium Cap Blanc or the Cave paintings Of the Cova des VI should be included in its agenda. Water has played a prominent role in the history of this municipality, preserving water wells such as the Pozo des Pla de Corona or El de Forat, and especially Buscastell, with its spring of water.
